Who We Are

The editors and designers at SMALL BATCH BOOKS have more than 20 years’ experience each in senior-level editorial positions within the book, magazine, and digital publishing worlds. We work collaboratively with a stable of experienced copyeditors, proofreaders, printers, and bookbinders to offer our clients the highest quality services possible.

FRED LEVINE has worked for the last few years as an editor, writer, and designer of privately published memoirs. Prior to that he was an editor-in-chief at Time Inc., features editor at Disney’s Family Fun magazine, and editor of Intuition, a magazine devoted to the cultivation of creativity. Fred’s writing, much of it first-person memoir style, has been published in a wide range of national magazines. He is also the author of two books on religion and spirituality, holds a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School, and a B.A. from Amherst College. He is an avid photographer and devotee of Photoshop, and likes nothing better than poring through (and restoring) clients’ old family photos. His biggest challenge in life is finding more time to brew beer.

TRISHA THOMPSON comes to private book publishing from two decades in magazines. Most recently she was executive editor of Wondertime, an award-winning Disney magazine for parents. She has been a former editor-in-chief at Time Inc., a senior editor at Condé Nast and ParentCenter.com, and the director of publications for Harvard Medical School. She was awarded a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT on the basis of her health writing, and she holds a B.A. from New York University. Her articles have appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Redbook, Esquire, SELF, and other publications. For six years, she wrote a column on motherhood for Parenting magazine and blogged on teen issues for The Faster Times.
